# Welcome to X1ID

# Own your name on X1
Claim `@you` once, and it's **yours — forever**. No renewals. No expiry date. No one able to take it back because you stopped using it. Most naming systems rent you a name that lapses the moment you miss a payment; X1ID gives you one you actually own.
And the payoff is immediate: `@you` becomes your identity **across chains**. A wallet address looks like `7Np1jK...pQ4mZ` — dozens of random characters, easy to mistype, impossible to remember, unforgiving if you get one wrong. Your handle replaces it with a name a person can read and share. People send to `@you` instead of a long string. Apps show you as `@you` instead of raw base58.

## The problem it fixes
